Staff Software Engineer, Platform – Scala

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Ensure exceptional service and uphold strong, scalable technical foundations utilizing Scala, MySQL, ClickHouse, Redis, Kafka, NSQ, AWS, Python, and Java

• Guide the team through intricate product and technical roadmaps

• Enhance delivery processes, systems, and tools while advocating for technical initiatives

• Recognize and resolve technical issues or escalate larger initiatives for prioritization

• Mentor engineers through collaborative pairing, documentation, workshops, and code reviews

• Deploy and sustain production systems, monitoring SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs

• Serve as the technical owner for the access domain and lead feature delivery

• Design and maintain solutions for internet-scale access platforms

• Enhance monitoring and alerting, tackle technical debt, and resolve performance bottlenecks

• Direct technical design planning, architecture, cross-organizational projects, and peer review

• Engage in support duties as the first line of defense against product outages and bugs

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in developing and supporting software in a production setting

• 5+ years of programming experience in object-oriented languages such as Scala and/or other JVM languages

• 5+ years of experience with functional programming paradigms and ecosystems

• 3+ years of experience in leading engineering projects and initiatives, including distributed systems design, development, and implementation

• Proficient in professional English, both verbal and written

• Preferred: 5+ years of experience in developing and supporting scalable, distributed backend services

• Preferred: 3 years of experience working with SQL databases

• Preferred: Proficient in professional Polish, both verbal and written
