Staff Software Engineer, Motion Planning

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and refine the mission planner, behavior planner, and motion planner for autonomous ground support equipment functioning in airport airside environments.

• Lead significant technical decisions throughout the planning stack, encompassing algorithm selection, interface definition, and overall architecture.

• Create prototypes and assess optimization-based methods, search-based planners, and learning-enhanced pipelines, bringing the most effective concepts into production.

• Work collaboratively with perception, controls, localization, and systems engineering teams to provide a cohesive autonomous driving system.

• Establish and advocate best practices in software development, functional safety, and systems engineering within the planning domain.

• Guide and mentor engineers through technical advice, code reviews, and design discussions.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or a similar field.

• Significant hands-on experience in designing and implementing planning modules for autonomous systems that have been launched into production or utilized in real-world applications.

• Proficient programming skills in C++ (preferred) or Python.

• Familiarity with Linux-based operating systems.

• Proven ability to tackle ambiguous technical challenges and drive them towards well-structured solutions independently.

• Strong communication abilities, proactive attitude, and a robust sense of ownership.

• Expertise in Modern C++ (14 and beyond) and safety-critical coding standards (e.g., MISRA, ISO 26262) preferred.

• Over 5 years of industry experience in planning for robotic ground vehicles preferred.

• Comprehensive understanding of DDS frameworks such as ROS/ROS2 or other networking middleware preferred.

• Experience in startup environments preferred.
