This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
β’ Take ownership of and enhance the data pipeline platform that ingests provider, benefit, and pricing data into Snowflake, delivering it to third-party consumers via SFTP.
β’ Design, construct, and maintain integrations with third-party data providers and vendors, addressing schema drift, malformed data, and specific partner nuances.
β’ Develop internal tools to automate repetitive, high-volume operational tasks, such as adjusting pricing for benefit amounts.
β’ Process and reconcile extensive volumes of medical provider data, prioritizing data quality, lineage, and auditability.
β’ Establish the technical direction for data infrastructure and integration methodologies, including the assessment of event-driven pipelines, CDC, and workflow orchestration.
β’ Evaluate designs, collaborate on challenging problems, and assist engineers across various teams in overcoming obstacles.
β’ Promote engineering standards for pipeline reliability, observability, and testing practices.
β’ Collaborate with product, operations, and pricing stakeholders to translate ambiguous business requirements into robust technical systems.
β’ Provide mentorship to engineers through code reviews, design documentation, and hands-on collaboration.
β’ Must reside in California, Oregon, or Washington.
β’ Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven record of managing data-intensive systems in production environments.
β’ Extensive experience in constructing and operating scalable data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and delivery processes.
β’ Practical experience in building and maintaining third-party integrations, especially in managing unreliable or inconsistent external data.
β’ Experience in developing internal tools and platforms that streamline operational workflows for non-engineering teams.
β’ Strong foundational knowledge in distributed systems, data modeling, and contemporary architectural patterns for large-scale data processing.
β’ Proven ability to function as a technical leader by setting direction, removing obstacles for others, and exerting influence without direct authority.
β’ Ability to navigate ambiguity and convert loosely defined operational challenges into well-defined technical solutions.
β’ Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating data architecture trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Proficient and disciplined use of AI-assisted tools, ensuring correctness, security, and quality prior to deployment.
β’ Experience with healthcare data, such as provider directories, NPI, claims, fee schedules, or benefits data (preferred).
β’ Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, dbt, or Step Functions (preferred).
