Frontend Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical design and development of the IKEA Kreativ web experience.

• Create high-quality, customer-centric features utilized by millions of IKEA customers.

• Design scalable frontend solutions employing modern JavaScript, TypeScript, React, APIs, and cloud technologies.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to translate product vision into efficient technical solutions.

• Provide technical guidance through architecture reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and mentoring.

• Work in partnership with distributed teams and IKEA partners to develop technical roadmaps.

• Deliver seamless omnichannel customer experiences.

• Advocate for engineering excellence through deliberate architecture, automated testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.

• Cultivate a collaborative engineering culture grounded in curiosity, ownership, innovation, and customer focus.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience in building and deploying modern web applications in a production environment.

• Strong foundation in Computer Science principles and software engineering.

• Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS.

• In-depth knowledge of modern frontend architecture, APIs, cloud platforms, and scalable distributed systems.

• Demonstrated experience leading technical projects, influencing architectural choices, and mentoring engineers.

• A proven track record of addressing complex systems design and engineering challenges.

• Experience in creating consumer-facing products at scale.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and design teams.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced, remote-first engineering environment.

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform.

• Experience with 3D graphics, WebGL, or visualization technologies.

• Background in developing retail or e-commerce applications.

• Knowledge of modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.

• Experience in startup or high-growth technology environments.
