Staff Software Engineer – Full-Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and enhance the platform architecture encompassing the data layer, API interface, frontend application, and deployment infrastructure.

• Develop production-quality code on a daily basis using React, Node/NestJS, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

• Design systems that support multiple tenants, ensuring tenant isolation, data partitioning, role-based access, and configuration for each tenant.

• Incorporate security measures through authentication, authorization, encryption, input validation, API fortification, and readiness for compliance.

• Conduct profiling, benchmarking, and optimization of databases, caching, frontend rendering, and bundle performance.

• Create monitoring and alerting systems to identify and respond to system degradation.

• Architect solutions for horizontal scaling, load management, connection pooling, asynchronous processing, and accommodating increased tenant and traffic demands.

• Define engineering patterns, conventions, and quality benchmarks.

• Mentor engineers, perform design reviews, and collaborate on complex challenges.

• Assess and implement modern development tools, including agentic coding utilities such as Claude Code.

• Stay updated on emerging trends in software engineering, AI-assisted development, infrastructure, and developer tools.

• Provide support for DevOps, debugging, customer escalations, hiring interviews, and other team requirements.

• Report to the Senior Engineering Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a significant portion in full-stack roles focused on building scalable web applications.

• Proficient in navigating high-ambiguity environments with limited resources and changing priorities.

• Extensive expertise in at least one modern web stack.

• Comfortable working with React, TypeScript, Node.js/NestJS, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

• Demonstrated capability to take ownership of system architecture and make critical technical decisions.

• Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 and common security vulnerabilities.

• Ability to design authentication and authorization frameworks.

• Skills in performance engineering, including identifying bottlenecks and establishing efficient data access patterns.

• Strong discipline in shipping and pragmatic delivery.

• Experience utilizing agentic coding or AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or Copilot.

• A proactive approach with a bias for ownership and action.

• Preferred: background in healthcare, biotech, or life sciences.

• Preferred: experience with early-stage or growth-stage companies.

• Preferred: experience in designing developer-facing APIs or platform primitives.

• Preferred: knowledge of event-driven architectures, CQRS, or domain-driven design.

• Preferred: familiarity with Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, and designing CI/CD pipelines.

• Preferred: experience with penetration testing, security audits, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 compliance.

• Preferred: proven track record in evaluating and introducing tools or frameworks based on measurable outcomes.

• Preferred: contributions to open-source projects or public technical writing.
