Staff Software Engineer, Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee backend systems and data infrastructure that support substantial volumes of integrations and real-time events.

• Contribute to both backend and frontend development utilizing Node.js, React, and Serverless frameworks.

• Influence architectural decisions for the data pipeline and integrations platform.

• Create documentation for technical standards that can scale across the team.

• Collaborate with architects, R&D, product, engineering, and cross-functional teams.

• Participate in and assist in leading design and planning meetings.

• Define and decompose future work in coordination with product and engineering stakeholders.

• Manage and prioritize tasks in Jira, ensuring deliverables are completed.

• Diagnose and resolve issues for customer support and success teams.

• Investigate new technologies to enhance product performance, maintainability, and scalability.

• Mentor engineers through complex challenges and engage in code reviews.

• Oversee projects from start to finish and keep stakeholders updated.

• Develop frameworks, standards, and tools that enhance team efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software development.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology field.

• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL systems, particularly Elasticsearch or DynamoDB.

• Proficient in building and deploying applications with AWS services such as Lambda, VPC, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, SQS, and Kinesis.

• Strong skills in JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining serverless infrastructure at scale.

• Knowledge of data warehousing tools like Snowflake.

• Experience in constructing reliable and scalable data pipelines.

• Proficient in managing tasks in Jira and participating in agile ceremonies.

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform, or Serverless Framework.

• Willingness to coach and mentor fellow engineers.

• Candidates are required to undergo a criminal records check upon hire.

• Must be a Canadian Citizen, including dual citizens, or eligible to work in Canada.

• Compliance with Solink’s security policies and standards is mandatory.

• Nice-to-have: practical experience with React or similar modern frameworks.

• Nice-to-have: understanding of information security and cybersecurity best practices.

• Nice-to-have: familiarity with multiple programming languages beyond JavaScript/TypeScript.
