Staff Software Engineer, Cash App Banking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee the overall technical direction of the Cash App Banking server engineering team.

• Propel cross-functional architectural decisions and enhance infrastructure for resilient, scalable systems.

• Cultivate the skills of aspiring engineers and broaden their influence.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and business leaders to formulate, communicate, and implement technical strategies.

• Guide organizational and company leaders towards consistent, sound, and efficient technical choices.

• Engage in technical designs and coding while remaining actively involved with the systems that support Cash App products.

• Uphold high engineering standards.

• Provide technical coaching and mentorship to teammates.

• Embrace an AI-first approach and elevate the standards for AI application within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of software development experience or its equivalent.

• More than 3 years of experience in leading large-scale features, including the planning, management, and execution of project delivery while ensuring a high-quality standard.

• Proven experience in identifying, aligning, and achieving globally optimal solutions within systems that involve numerous components.

• Capability to design and develop innovative solutions to intricate problems.

• Strong history of aiding the professional growth of fellow engineers.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a similar field.

• Proficiency in Java and Kotlin.

• Familiarity with AWS.

• Knowledge of HTTP, JSON, gRPC, and Protocol Buffers.

• Experience with OkHttp, Jetty, JUnit, and Guice.

• Background in Hibernate, Aurora, MySQL, DynamoDB, and Redis.

• Understanding of Kafka, event-driven architecture, and microservices.

• Experience with DataDog, Buildkite, and Gradle.
