Staff Software Engineer, Cash App Banking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the comprehensive technical strategy for the Cash App Banking server engineering team.

• Propel architectural decisions and infrastructure enhancements for resilient and scalable systems.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and business stakeholders to formulate, communicate, and implement technical strategies.

• Guide organizational and company leaders toward consistent, effective, and efficient technical choices.

• Directly contribute to technical designs and coding while remaining attentive to system specifics.

• Uphold high standards in engineering practices.

• Mentor and coach engineers to broaden their technical knowledge and skills.

• Foster an AI-first approach and elevate the standard for AI application within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years in software development or equivalent experience.

• At least 3 years of experience leading large-scale features, including planning, managing, and executing project delivery while upholding a high-quality standard.

• Proven experience in identifying, aligning, and achieving globally optimal solutions in complex systems.

• Capability to design and create innovative solutions for intricate problems.

• Strong history of supporting the growth of fellow engineers.

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Familiarity with Java and Kotlin.

• Experience or knowledge of AWS.

• Understanding of HTTP, JSON, gRPC, and Protocol Buffers.

• Knowledge of OkHttp, Jetty, JUnit, and Guice.

• Familiarity with Hibernate, Aurora, MySQL, DynamoDB, and Redis.

• Understanding of Kafka, event-driven architecture, and microservices.

• Knowledge of DataDog, Buildkite, and Gradle.
