This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Accountable for establishing the technical strategy for your team over a one-year timeframe, while assisting in linking it to key projects that impact the business.
• Collaborate throughout the product development lifecycle with product management, design, and analytics to guarantee that technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are thoroughly understood and managed.
• Serve as a force multiplier for your team by defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational processes.
• Take charge of your team’s operations and availability by ensuring that appropriate monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are in place to support ongoing operations and on-call duties.
• Cultivate a culture of quality and accountability within your team by establishing code review and design standards, and championing these standards beyond your team through your writing and technical presentations.
• Assist in developing talent within your team by offering feedback and guidance, and leading by example.
• Over 8 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems using programming languages such as Python or Kotlin.
• Proven track record of building highly available distributed systems utilizing technologies like AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
• Experience in financial systems, ledgering, treasury, or related fields where data accuracy and system reliability are paramount.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering significant features, system components, or phasing out existing functionality through the creation of technical and execution plans.
• Ability to write high-quality code that is easily comprehensible and usable by others.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, capable of transitioning from low-level language idioms to the architecture of large systems to comprehend their functionality.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
• This role requires either relevant practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
