Staff Software Engineer, Backend – Identity Decisioning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Formulate the technical strategy for the team over a one-year period.

• Align team strategy with key projects that significantly impact the business.

• Work in partnership with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development process.

• Ensure that technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are recognized and managed effectively.

• Define and champion technical solutions as well as operational procedures.

• Oversee team operations and availability, which includes monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting.

• Assist in maintaining ongoing operations and on-call responsibilities.

• Set standards for code reviews and design practices.

• Promote engineering standards through written materials and technical presentations.

• Foster team development through constructive feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems using languages such as Python or Kotlin.

• Extensive experience in creating highly available distributed systems.

• Proficiency with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.

• Experience in delivering significant features or system components, or phasing out existing functionalities through technical and execution strategies.

• Capability to write high-quality, maintainable code.

• Ability to operate from low-level language constructs to large-system architecture.

• Proven growth and impact demonstrated through the collection and implementation of peer feedback.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
