This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia, +5 more countries.
• Develop and enhance systems that collect and maintain over 400 million creator profiles across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Ensure billions of data points remain current for search, analytics, APIs, and customer-facing products.
• Design robust services that can withstand third-party API instability, rate limits, provider outages, platform modifications, and partial failures.
• Optimize collection coverage and data freshness while managing costs related to requests, proxies, storage, and computing.
• Take ownership of the entire production lifecycle, from defining problems and architecting solutions to coding, reviewing, releasing, monitoring, and iterating.
• Create monitoring, observability, and operational safeguards to identify gaps and regressions.
• Collaborate with teams in Data Search, Data Insights, product development, and company leadership.
• Engage in system design, indexing dependencies, request-routing evaluations, and enhancements in data quality.
• Proven experience in high-volume backend or data systems where reliability, throughput, latency, and cost are critical.
• Experience in delivering systems from concept to production, encompassing scoping, architecture, implementation, release, operation, and iteration.
• Proficient in designing distributed systems, including handling partial failures, retries, idempotency, backpressure, scaling, and operational trade-offs.
• Skilled in building resilient integrations with rate-limited, unstable, or evolving third-party APIs or external dependencies.
• Experience in managing proxies or request routing, particularly in high-traffic environments and anti-bot systems.
• Responsible for operational ownership, including observability, alerting, runbooks, and post-deployment operations.
• Capability to work independently on ambiguous challenges.
• Strong cross-team communication skills and the ability to articulate trade-offs while providing direct feedback.
• Bonus points for experience with social media APIs, data quality frameworks, large-scale collection systems, or monitoring freshness and coverage.
• Familiarity with AWS and Pulumi.
• Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Knowledge of Aurora Limitless/Postgres.
• Experience with S3.
• Familiar with CloudWatch.
• Experience with ECS, SQS, Athena, and other AWS services.
• Knowledge of proxy networks and custom routing layers.
• Proficient in tools like Slack, GitHub, Linear, Notion, and Cursor.
