Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Ensure the reliability and accuracy of Privacy.com card processing.

• Analyze current system challenges and recommend significant improvements to future architecture.

• Lead extensive multi-month initiatives and develop the roadmap.

• Guarantee that the team produces dependable, secure, and scalable code.

• Spearhead efforts to enhance systems and processes both within the team and across engineering.

• Assist in driving strategic planning alongside engineering, product, and cross-functional leaders.

• Make informed trade-offs between long-term investments and immediate product value.

• Engage in team on-call rotations.

• Balance hands-on coding responsibilities with technical leadership to advance the platform for scalability.

• Become knowledgeable in card payments and tackle distributed systems challenges at scale.

• Make decisions regarding architecture and product direction.

• Provide mentorship to other engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience delivering code in a dynamic production setting.

• Proven experience in developing event-driven and sophisticated distributed systems.

• A strong sense of ownership and accountability for your work.

• Experience as a technical lead for a small team.

• Successfully driven extensive multi-month migration or re-architecting projects.

• Background in mentoring and coaching other engineers on distributed systems patterns and best practices.

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including designers, PMs, and operations.

• Exceptional communication skills and a passion for continual learning.

• Candidates must be residing in the United States, Canada (Ontario or British Columbia), Netherlands, Poland, or Czech Republic.
