Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Become a member of one of Plasma's engineering teams and take charge of its most challenging technical issues from start to finish.

• Establish the technical direction for essential systems, encompassing architecture, data models, and engineering standards.

• Create dependable systems that involve real-money transactions, storage, or network dependencies.

• Manage TypeScript services and data models, addressing client or API layers as necessary.

• Define protocols for handling partial failures, retries, timeouts, reversals, and reconciliation discrepancies.

• Contribute to, design, and enhance frontend systems and integrations.

• Elevate technical standards for code quality, testing, monitoring, incident response, and solving ambiguous problems.

• Mentor engineers and foster technical clarity within the team.

• Collaborate with product and other teams to ensure seamless system connections.

⛳️ Requirements

• Staff-level, hands-on engineer with a proven history of managing production systems from inception to completion.

• Extensive experience in developing backend services using TypeScript and Node.js.

• Full-stack capability to navigate through the client layer when required.

• Strong grasp of reliability, correctness, state machines, data integrity, observability, and operational risk.

• Proven ability to take systems from concept to realization and scale them effectively.

• Keen judgment on technical trade-offs.

• Excellent communication skills and commitment to writing clean code.

• Capability to lead technical decisions without direct management of personnel.

• High level of agency and proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Data-driven approach to decision-making.

• Nice to have: experience in fintech, banking, or a crypto-related field.

• Nice to have: familiarity with stablecoins, custody, settlement, and blockchain transaction lifecycles.

• Nice to have: experience as a founder or early employee in a fast-paced, high-agency startup environment.
