Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, development, and upkeep of the LIMS application and associated software.

• Offer technical guidance to the Software Engineering team, engineers, and Technical Product Managers.

• Collaborate with stakeholders and users to establish requirements.

• Convert requirements into robust, extensible, and operations-friendly Java applications.

• Make crucial design and technical implementation choices alongside the engineering team.

• Maintain a comprehensive perspective on processes and systems for patient samples from order to result in a multi-product clinical laboratory.

• Grasp LIMS platform features and suggest solutions with a trade-off analysis.

• Utilize existing or commercial functionality whenever feasible.

• Integrate enterprise systems and services to establish seamless business processes.

• Enhance development processes and procedures while promoting best practices.

• Create and uphold automated testing.

• Provide second-tier production support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a comparable program, or equivalent experience.

• Over 10 years of comprehensive software development experience, ideally in building complex data or process management applications in production environments.

• More than 10 years of experience in object-oriented programming in Java, preferably with open-source frameworks like Spring Frameworks and Hibernate.

• At least 10 years of experience with web services (REST, etc.), XML/JSON, and Oracle or other relational databases.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience implementing and configuring LabVantage LIMS.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• A strong commitment to diversity in engineering.

• Proficiency in object-oriented programming.

• Knowledge of Java Enterprise Edition.

• Experience with JavaScript.

• Proficient in relational databases and SQL programming, preferably Oracle.

• Familiarity with REST APIs and other web service backend technologies.

• Experience with CI/CD.

• A quality assurance mindset; familiarity with regulated environments is a plus.
