Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and expand Meadow Pay, the financial engagement platform for students at Meadow.

• Oversee the complete lifecycle of product feature development, from design to deployment and continuous support.

• Create and design scalable backend services and APIs utilizing TypeScript/Node.js.

• Contribute to frontend development with modern frameworks, ideally React.

• Design systems prioritizing reliability, observability, and maintainability.

• Work collaboratively with Product, Design, Customer Experience, and Integrations teams to deliver functionalities that enhance customer experience.

• Engage in code reviews to maintain high standards for code quality and system architecture.

• Enhance engineering practices, tools, and documentation to accommodate growth.

• Influence technical choices and cultivate the engineering culture as the organization evolves.

• Incorporate AI tools as an integral part of the team's daily development processes.

• Report directly to Mike, the Engineering Manager at Meadow.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Product Engineering.

• Proven expertise in building and managing production systems at scale.

• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js backend services and APIs.

• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks, with a preference for React.

• Experience utilizing AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, or Codex within software development processes.

• Capability to design systems that are reliable, observable, maintainable, and scalable.

• Strong technical acumen and commitment to high standards in code quality and system architecture.

• Ability to take ownership of challenges and make significant technical decisions autonomously.

• Demonstrated operational excellence regarding stability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical systems.

• Strong product intuition, encompassing empathy, creativity, and a commitment to high-quality standards.

• Technical proficiency in design, architecture, problem-solving, tool selection, verification, and managing technical debt.

• Fluency in AI, including thoughtful tool selection, output validation, testing, review, and risk mitigation.

• Competence in facilitating discussions across teams and guiding debates towards consensus.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Design, Customer Experience, Sales, and Engineering teams.

• Experience in early-stage startups is a notable advantage.

• Experience in FinTech or regulated industries is a notable advantage.

• Experience in people management and/or technical leadership is a notable advantage.

• Must reside in the United States.
