📋 Description

• Design and enhance the foundational architecture of conversational AI and voice-ordering systems.

• Balance latency, reliability, and accuracy in a real-time, in-lane drive-thru setting.

• Lead intricate, cross-functional technical initiatives that encompass POS and hardware integrations, AI-agent evaluation, and observability.

• Establish technical direction and standards for backend systems.

• Mentor and facilitate the onboarding of new team members.

• Collaborate with product and operations teams to transform the needs of local business operators into effective technical solutions.

• Enhance testing, evaluation, and monitoring processes for AI-agent quality in non-deterministic conversational systems.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to real-time audio, third-party integrations, and distributed services.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, demonstrating a history of managing significant systems from start to finish.

• Extensive experience with backend systems in Python, or a strong foundational knowledge of general backend principles with an eagerness to specialize in Python.

• Proven experience in designing systems for reliability and correctness, particularly in real-time or latency-sensitive environments.

• Capacity to navigate ambiguity and convert loosely defined challenges into well-architected solutions.

• Strong judgment regarding when to prioritize scalability versus rapid development.

• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical reasoning and bring others along in the process.

• Bonus: experience with conversational AI/LLM-based systems, real-time audio/telephony platforms, or integration with third-party/legacy POS or specialized hardware.
