Staff Software Engineer – AI Backend Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Define the technical strategy and architecture for AI backend platforms based on Python, utilizing FastAPI.

• Design scalable, reliable, and secure systems on AWS using Lambda and EKS.

• Drive technical decisions that influence engineering practices and platform capabilities across the organization.

• Design and advocate for observability within AI systems using tools such as LangChain, Langfuse, and litellm.

• Set standards for monitoring, logging, observability, and operational excellence.

• Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the performance, security, and scalability of large-scale AI applications.

• Mentor engineers through code reviews, architecture assessments, and by providing technical leadership.

• Identify areas of technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and architectural limitations, and spearhead long-term solutions.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership, product teams, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of technical strategies with business goals.

• Influence technology selections, design patterns, and best practices within the AI Software & Operations department.

• Represent the team in organization-wide technical discussions and promote the adoption of innovative solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend and distributed systems.

• Advanced proficiency in Python for large-scale production environments.

• Deep understanding of LLMs, generative AI architectures, and AI infrastructure, including LangChain, litellm, Langfuse, and OpenAI/Anthropic APIs.

• Proven experience in architecting and delivering complex, scalable platforms on AWS.

• Expert knowledge in microservices architecture, distributed systems design, and event-driven architectures.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, containerization, orchestration, and cloud-native design patterns.

• A strong track record of technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and making an organizational impact.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Exceptional strategic thinking skills with the ability to balance immediate delivery with long-term architectural vision.
