Forward Deployed AI Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +11 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with teams to gain an in-depth understanding of their workflows.

• Analyze time usage, identify error points, and highlight areas of processes that may be problematic.

• Engage teams in the redesign process from its inception.

• Develop agents, automations, skills, and tools utilizing authorized AI platforms, primarily Claude.

• Deliver functional solutions during scheduled sprints.

• Work iteratively alongside staff using their actual deliverables.

• Establish value targets and validate outcomes at the conclusion of each sprint.

• Transfer solutions to AI Platform Operations and IT, accompanied by documentation, test cases, and runbooks.

• Offer support throughout a 30-day stabilization period.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during sprints and the stabilization phase.

• Collaborate with IT support following the stabilization period.

• Transform one-time builds into reusable skills, agents, and templates.

• Sustain a library of reusable solutions for the AI Collective and Association staff.

• Assess hours saved, cycle time reduced, or capacity generated.

• Communicate results, including unsuccessful initiatives, to the Sr. Director and AI Steering Committee.

• Adhere to Responsible AI guidelines, data handling standards, and information security protocols.

• Identify which processes should continue to be led by humans.

• Collaborate with Enterprise Risk and AI Platform Operations prior to solutions accessing sensitive information.

• Manage system access and credentials for builds.

• Act as a dedicated member of the AI Collective.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

• 3–5 years of professional experience in understanding and optimizing process operations.

• Practical experience in building AI agents, automations, or tools implemented in daily operations.

• Proficient in using Claude or a similar enterprise AI platform, including agentic and multi-step workflows.

• Comfortable working with APIs, connectors, and structured data.

• Knowledgeable about the differences between prototype systems and production systems.

• Capable of teaching users how to maintain and enhance solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with non-technical personnel.

• Patient when engaging with individuals who may be skeptical of AI.

• Ability to work independently without a predefined playbook.

• Preferred: experience with Claude Code, Claude Cowork, MCP servers, or similar agent development frameworks.

• Preferred: background in delivering AI or automation projects within a large, matrixed organization.

• Preferred: experience in scientific research, public policy and advocacy, healthcare, fundraising, or field and volunteer operations.

• Preferred: familiarity with Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Workday, or CXone.

• Preferred: prior experience in the nonprofit sector.

• Preferred: experience in documenting and scaling solutions beyond the initial team.

• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.

• Willingness to be available for occasional evening or weekend work during active sprints or handoff periods.

• Willingness to travel up to 15% to work onsite with teams.

• Ability to facilitate working sessions both virtually and in-person.
