Staff Software Developer – Back-end

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Define and advance technical architecture and engineering standards to ensure safe, scalable, secure, and reusable capabilities across various teams.

• Influence architectural choices through design reviews, requests for comments (RFCs), proof-of-concept initiatives, and hands-on collaboration.

• Take ownership of significant platform features and architectural enhancements from the design phase to delivery.

• Collaborate with QA, Product, Security, Domain Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and DevOps to enhance observability, reliability, quality, CI/CD processes, deployment strategies, and production safeguards.

• Drive operational excellence by identifying systemic risks, leading root cause analyses, and implementing preventive enhancements.

• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and practical technical guidance.

• Address complex, business-critical challenges, including third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization.

• Advocate for responsible AI-assisted development by establishing guardrails, piloting tools and agentic workflows, mentoring teams, and measuring their impact on velocity and quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 8 years focused on core Java and a proven impact that extends beyond a single team.

• Extensive expertise in server-side Java development.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and evolving shared platforms or infrastructure utilized by multiple teams.

• Proven track record of delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, emphasizing scalability, reliability, security, and cost management.

• Familiarity with both monolithic applications and microservices architectures.

• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.

• Strong foundational knowledge in software engineering principles.

• Proven track record of making significant architectural decisions.

• Exceptional communication and influencing skills across technical teams.

• Experience working within an agile team alongside developers, testers, and a product owner.

• Preferred experience with Azure or Google Cloud.

• Contributions to open-source projects or a robust GitHub portfolio preferred.
