This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Lead the architectural design and hands-on implementation of a data-driven web product utilizing Microsoft Azure.
• Take full ownership of the application lifecycle, encompassing services, APIs, the Next.js framework, integrations, security measures, and performance under load.
• Architect systems and deliver high-performance applications, writing code for essential paths from conception to production.
• Design the querying, processing, and visualization of extensive data sets, covering modeling, SQL performance, caching, pagination, aggregation, search capabilities, and asynchronous processing.
• Deliver dashboards, reports, and facilitate data exploration on top of pre-existing data platforms.
• Decide on and document system architecture, which may include modular monoliths, microservices, synchronous, or event-driven methodologies.
• Balance trade-offs concerning performance, consistency, security, cost, and operational complexity.
• Establish standards for authentication and authorization, observability, automated testing, code reviews, and continuous delivery practices.
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering within team development processes.
• Collaborate with ingestion, pipeline, and data platform teams while managing how the application queries, secures, and delivers data at production efficiency.
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline; a master's degree or PhD is advantageous.
• Proven experience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Software Architect, or similar role, with a track record of designing and delivering large-scale, high-performance web applications and backend systems.
• Demonstrable system design experience at production scale, including service boundaries, data flow, consistency, failure modes, and the capability to justify those decisions with trade-offs rather than presentations.
• Proficient in Java, with additional expertise in Go and/or Python where applicable.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, and Next.js, sufficient to influence and contribute to web application development.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure in a production environment, including API and integration design, as well as distributed systems (queues, events, idempotency, consistency, resilience, and fault tolerance).
• Strong skills in SQL, data modeling, and query optimization, along with knowledge of NoSQL, caching, and search — evidenced by a history of developing data-intensive UIs and APIs that perform well (latency, throughput, pagination, aggregation, caching strategies).
• Knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD practices, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and production diagnostics using logs, metrics, and traces.
• Preferred experience in analytics or BI products, conversational interfaces, multi-tenant systems, Domain-Driven Design, feature flags, and progressive delivery methodologies.
• Ability to merge architectural insight with implementation while remaining close to the code.
• Capacity to make practical trade-offs and opt for simpler designs when adequate.
• Skill in clearly communicating risks, decisions, and limitations to both technical and business stakeholders, while enhancing team quality through example, feedback, and collaboration.
• Performance-based bonus*
• Attendance Bonus*
