Senior - Principal Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and refine scalable data platforms.

• Make architectural choices and take responsibility for platform results.

• Organize Databricks platforms utilizing Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and governance standards.

• Coordinate data workflows while structuring code and deployments.

• Create and uphold data pipelines from ingestion to consumption.

• Develop data solutions using Python, SQL, and cloud technologies.

• Provide technical leadership and facilitate decision-making between technology and business.

• Review work, share insights, and enhance the capabilities of colleagues.

• Collaborate directly with clients to deliver genuine business value from data platforms.

• For those new to Databricks, complete a supported 7-month crash course that includes certifications, client project work, and internal knowledge-sharing, transitioning to a permanent contract upon meeting agreed milestones.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in leading or playing a significant role in bringing data platforms from concept to reality.

• Accountability for outcomes and experience in making architectural choices.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, governance, workflows, code structure, and deployments.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.

• Familiarity with data modeling and constructing data pipelines.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Experience in building ETL/ELT pipelines and cloud-based data solutions.

• Ability to define strategy, architecture, and initial steps from ambiguous objectives.

• Capacity to balance practicality with quality.

• Ability to elevate colleagues' skills through reviews and discussions.

• Capability to influence both technical and business decisions while articulating trade-offs.

• Databricks certifications are preferred.

• Databricks Champion status is a plus.
