
Senior Software Engineer – Data Search

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France, +5 more countries.
• Enhance the discovery of creators across over 400 million profiles and countless media files through effective retrieval, filtering, ranking, relevance, speed, and product strategy.
• Develop systems that create and utilize embeddings from images, videos, texts, and audio on a massive scale.
• Assess models and technologies while balancing factors such as cost, latency, and quality.
• Transition effective search methods from experimental stages to robust production systems.
• Define problems, gather requirements, design architectures, write code, launch features, evaluate outcomes, and iterate on findings.
• Analyze retrieval and ranking processes to pinpoint and resolve relevance challenges.
• Construct and evaluate multimodal embedding pipelines.
• Collaborate with Data Insights on defining data points, ensuring coverage, and maintaining data quality standards.
• Evaluate reranking models against actual customer inquiries and measure relevance, latency, and inference costs.
• Review production metrics, investigate regressions, and identify whether solutions should be applied to models, data, query logic, or products.
• Work alongside Data Core, Data Insights, product teams, clients, and company leadership.
• Engage in introductory, coding, system design, team, and CEO culture/alignment interviews.
• Strong experience in building large-scale data or backend products where factors like volume, latency, reliability, and cost are critical.
• Proven ability to deliver products from initial concept to production, encompassing scoping, architecture, implementation, release, measurement, and iteration.
• Experience in designing distributed systems, including considerations for throughput, failure modes, data flow, scalability, and operational trade-offs.
• Background in developing LLM-powered or agentic features in a production environment.
• Capability to work independently on ambiguous challenges.
• Proficient in clearly communicating technical trade-offs to both engineering and non-engineering teams.
• Experience in a dynamic product environment.
• Bonus: familiarity with multimodal embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, ranking algorithms, model deployment, self-hosted models, or GPU infrastructure.
• A curiosity about the creator economy is advantageous.
• Availability for some overlap in work hours with GMT+3.
• Technical familiarity with AWS, GCP, Pulumi, Python, TypeScript, Node.js, PySpark, AWS EMR, Airflow, Milvus, Zilliz, Elasticsearch, LLM batch APIs, Apache Iceberg, SageMaker, DynamoDB, S3, Glue, Kinesis, Lambda, ECS, and Aurora.
