This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop, implement, and assess image reconstruction techniques for wave-based tomography, including photoacoustic and ultrasound computed tomography.
• Utilize information theory and signal detection theory to evaluate image quality and enhance imaging systems and reconstruction algorithms.
• Design and carry out computational studies.
• Analyze both simulated and experimental data.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams.
• Prepare manuscripts and technical documentation.
• Assist in grant proposals and the preparation/reporting of grants.
• Mentor students and trainees.
• Create research protocols and procedures for data collection, verification, and management.
• Conduct complex statistical analyses and compose interpretative reports.
• Ensure data accuracy and provide recommendations based on analyses.
• Document research topics and prepare papers for publication or presentation.
• Troubleshoot equipment or test-subject issues and recommend technical or procedural enhancements.
• Perform literature reviews related to research projects.
• Execute other duties as assigned.
• Master's degree or a combination of education and/or experience may be considered as a substitute for the minimum educational requirement.
• Three years of laboratory operations experience.
• PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with relevant post-doctoral research experience preferred.
• Experience in scientific computer programming is preferred.
• Advanced understanding of applied mathematics, physics, and information theory is preferred.
• Capability to work in a laboratory setting with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
• Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment and providing standard care to research animals.
• No specific certification or professional license is required.
• A driver's license is not necessary.
