This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Create frameworks and methodologies that empower engineering teams to conduct effective self-testing.
• Lead the development of scripts that provide engineering teams with automation and quality benchmarks.
• Take ownership of the quality engineering strategy as the organization expands.
• Establish testing standards, develop tools, and promote their adoption throughout the engineering teams.
• Formulate a risk-aware continuous integration testing standard that includes dependency modeling, targeted test selection, and detection of breaking changes.
• Set standards for unit, integration, and contract testing, incorporating an observability layer to minimize flaky pipelines.
• Create reference test suites within actual service repositories.
• Define automated pass/fail evaluations for canary releases against production traffic, facilitating automatic promotion or rollback.
• Enhance AI capabilities within the quality pipeline through LLM-based change-risk classification, targeted mutation testing, test generation, and self-healing checks.
• Collaborate with the Platform team while reporting to Bartek Kucharski; this role is a specialist individual contributor without direct reports.
• Proficient in test automation frameworks such as pytest, Playwright, Selenium, and API testing or similar tools.
• Experience in designing and maintaining test automation frameworks and tools utilized across a larger engineering organization.
• Extensive understanding of testing in microservice or distributed systems, which includes API-level automation, CI/CD integration, and service-level testing strategies.
• Proven track record in leading innovations and proof-of-concepts in testing, especially in AI-driven regression optimization and change-risk assessment.
• Strong focus on collaboration and delivery in multi-project environments with distributed teams.
• Familiarity with contract testing or consumer/provider verification methodologies (e.g., Pact, OpenAPI schema validation, or similar).
• Experience with AWS infrastructure (e.g., Lambda, GitHub Actions self-hosted runners, deployment tools).
• Knowledge of progressive deployment techniques such as canary releases, feature flags, and automated rollback from production signals (preferred).
• Understanding of mutation testing, whether through traditional tools or LLM-based approaches (preferred).
• Expertise in test-data management and environment isolation in shared settings (preferred).
• Experience in a regulated or high-stakes industry, such as energy, fintech, or payments (preferred).
• Proficient in spoken, written, and reading English.
