📋 Description

• Develop strategies to ensure a high standard of service, including the identification of service-level indicators and the establishment of error budgets.

• Utilize strong technical judgment to navigate ambiguous challenges and clearly present trade-offs.

• Produce maintainable code, prioritize reliability, engage in on-call duties and incident response, and enhance owned systems progressively.

• Discover opportunities to enhance both customer and internal user experiences through performance engineering, the adoption of observability, and improvements in automation.

• Elevate the team's technical standards through design feedback, code reviews, mentoring, and effective written communication.

• Leverage AI-powered development tools throughout the processes of planning, implementation, review, testing, and iteration.

• Report directly to Zach Angell, the Director of Engineering for Prefect Cloud.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in operating and optimizing large-scale distributed systems in a production environment, with an emphasis on observability and self-healing.

• Proficient in managing production services within cloud environments like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.

• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as DataDog, Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.

• Experience in operating production systems within a high-growth startup context.

• Knowledge of declarative techniques for the safe management of production infrastructure utilizing modern Infrastructure as Code tools, including Kubernetes and Terraform.
