Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and manage Flexential’s IT platforms, encompassing observability, DevOps, ITSM incident and release management, as well as integration technologies.

• Create and oversee essential platform subsystems to ensure high availability, operational resilience, security, scalability, and native-AI capabilities.

• Implement Kubernetes workloads, write Terraform modules, develop Ansible playbooks, and construct GitLab pipelines.

• Architect and operationally manage automated, resilient, secure, and self-healing platforms that support internal and customer business functionalities.

• Lead the development and management of the Observability OpenTelemetry Central Backend Stack utilizing Grafana Enterprise, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Alertmanager on Kubernetes/RKE2 via Helm and GitLab CI/CD.

• Construct and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD for automated provisioning and deployment using Terraform, Ansible AWX, ArgoCD, and Helm.

• Create and oversee OpenTelemetry Prometheus scrape profile libraries, including SNMP, REST API, and cloud provider exporters.

• Develop AIOps functionalities such as anomaly detection integrations, Alertmanager event correlation rules, and synthetic monitoring patterns.

• Configure and sustain Zabbix auto-discovery along with Prometheus service discovery integration.

• Build and strengthen Edge Stack deployments for each data center site using GitOps templates.

• Integrate Alertmanager with ServiceNow through webhook routing, ticket enrichment, auto-close logic, and escalation policies.

• Ensure platform security through Conjur/CyberArk secret injection, mTLS, and Grafana Enterprise RBAC.

• Create and maintain Grafana dashboards in JSON/GitLab format.

• Mentor mid-level engineers, lead code reviews, and set engineering standards.

• Represent platform engineering in cross-functional architecture reviews and executive program updates.

• Execute other tasks as assigned and required.

⛳️ Requirements

• DevOps / Automation: 5+ years in a production environment, including experience with Kubernetes (RKE2/k3s), Helm chart deployment, systemd services, and Docker/containerd.

• LGTM Stack Development and Configuration: 4+ years with Grafana, Mimir, Loki, and Tempo configuration, tuning, dashboarding, and production operations; Prometheus knowledge is essential.

• Senior-level Python / Scripting frameworks: 5+ years of experience, including automation scripts, exporter development, GitLab pipeline scripting, and REST API integrations.

• GitOps / CI/CD: 5+ years of experience including GitLab CI/CD pipeline authoring; Terraform and Ansible as primary IaC tools; ArgoCD or Flux preferred.

• AIOps / Observability Engineering: 2+ years of experience, including Alertmanager rule authoring, anomaly detection integration, event correlation, and noise reduction techniques.

• Working knowledge of infrastructure management (Linux/VM): 5+ years, including Linux administration, VMware vCenter/VCF experience, NetApp storage management, and network fundamentals (SNMP, TCP/IP).

• Secrets Management: 2+ years with CyberArk/Conjur, HashiCorp Vault, or equivalent runtime secret injection methods.

• Minimal travel may be required.

• Experience and/or knowledge of ITSM processes and workflow automation is preferred.

• Hands-on experience or working knowledge of Boomi integrations PaaS (iPaaS) technologies is preferred.

• Experience with BAS/BMS systems in a Datacenter/OT environment is preferred.

• Practical experience with AWS products within a Well-Architected Framework and multi-account model is preferred.
