This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Singapore, +6 more countries.
• Develop shared platform capabilities for configuration, identity and permissions, tenant isolation, model and retrieval access, and evaluation.
• Extract shared functionalities from current products without hindering delivery schedules.
• Promote the adoption of shared platform elements across various teams.
• Make architectural and migration decisions across repositories from design through to production operations.
• Establish and maintain standards for ownership, code reviews, testing, security, and releases.
• Enable client-specific behaviors without creating forks or using client-specific conditional code.
• Work collaboratively with infrastructure engineers on deployment, CI/CD, and observability.
• Ensure that every critical system has a secondary owner, including systems developed within this role.
• Familiarize yourself with the codebase and existing platform work, agree on migration sequencing, and become a second owner of a key system within the first month.
• Deliver the initial shared capability to production with tests, an assigned owner, and an adoption strategy in the second month.
• Facilitate the adoption or migration of the second product, document the upcoming two quarters of platform work, and establish a secondary owner by the third month.
• Write production code weekly; this position is a hands-on individual contributor role, not a management position.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in building production backend systems.
• Genuine Staff-level experience, including architecture spanning multiple teams, migrations managed from initiation to completion, and adoption spearheaded in teams not directly reporting to you.
• Proficient in production TypeScript and Node.js.
• Comfortable working with Python and reviewing code written in other languages.
• Experience in designing, testing, and operating multi-tenant SaaS controls that safeguard client data from unauthorized access by others.
• Experience with deconstructing a monolith or extracting shared services while maintaining production operations.
• Sound infrastructure judgment involving Kubernetes, GCP or AWS, CI/CD, and observability.
• Capacity to design for infrastructure and evaluate infrastructure projects.
• Strong security and data-handling instincts, preferably from a regulated environment.
• Clear written communication skills across three time zones.
• Ability to resist unsafe shortcuts under pressure while preserving trust.
• Nice to have: experience in banking, insurance, or another regulated industry; familiarity with security reviews, SOC 2, or Singapore's OSPAR.
• Nice to have: experience in LLM application work, including model gateways, retrieval, prompt versioning, evaluation harnesses, and testing non-deterministic outputs.
• Nice to have: experience with internal developer platforms or self-service configuration systems.
• Nice to have: practical use of AI coding tools and an honest perspective on when they provide value versus when they generate plausible but unread code.
• No benefits, perks, or additional compensation details are specified in the posting.
