Staff Motion Designer – 3D

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +4 more locations.

📋 Description

• Oversee motion concepts for significant product launches, marketing campaigns, and brand initiatives.

• Create 3D environments, materials, and textures for product launches and brand activities.

• Direct product storytelling, title design, typography, transitions, diagrams, and UI animations.

• Establish and develop Mercury's motion design framework, encompassing principles, reusable behaviors, and templates.

• Investigate interactive motion contexts and applications of AI tools.

• Develop and advocate for AI-enhanced workflows in motion and 3D design.

• Assess AI creative tools for integration into the team's workflow.

• Collaborate with Design, Writing, Narrative, and Production teams from initial concept to final delivery.

• Guide high-level 3D and motion craftsmanship while supervising specialist animators, 3D artists, and studios.

• Enhance the motion quality of the Brand Studio through collaboration, critique, and exemplary work.

• Ensure the integrity and consistency of all moving brand expressions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience in motion design.

• Portfolio showcasing expertise in both 3D and 2D motion design along with conceptual thinking.

• Advanced skills in Cinema 4D, Houdini, Blender, or comparable 3D software, covering materials, texturing, lighting, and world-building.

• Advanced capabilities in After Effects or similar 2D motion software, with expertise in timing, easing, composition, and finishing details.

• Experience in creating and documenting motion systems or brand guidelines.

• Ability to transition between high-quality brand projects and product/UI/social work without compromising standards.

• Proven experience in art-directing or mentoring designers, animators, or external studios.

• Proficiency with AI tools as part of the creative workflow.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Familiarity with scripting or procedural workflows (expressions, Houdini VEX, Python) is a significant advantage.

• Capacity to excel in a highly collaborative setting.
