Staff M365 Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the enterprise architect and primary escalation contact for Microsoft 365 services.

• Design, implement, and enhance the architecture for Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Power Platform, and M365 Copilot.

• Establish platform patterns, standards, and configurations that prioritize performance, security, and scalability.

• Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams on matters such as identity, conditional access, DLP, Information Protection, retention, eDiscovery, Purview, and Defender for Office 365.

• Implement and uphold governance protocols for external sharing, guest access, and privileged access.

• Support audits and adhere to regulatory requirements.

• Plan, implement, and facilitate the migration from Zoom to Teams.

• Design secure integrations connecting M365, Entra ID/Azure AD, IAM solutions, third-party SaaS, and enterprise systems.

• Define identity and access models for users, service accounts, and automation processes.

• Promote reliability and operational excellence through monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response, and root cause analysis.

• Automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management utilizing PowerShell, Power Platform, and Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.

• Enhance SRE and ITSM practices.

• Manage the health of Microsoft 365 services and take ownership of change and release practices.

• Maintain comprehensive platform documentation and runbooks.

• Lead the secure enablement of M365 Copilot and collaboration/productivity initiatives.

• Coordinate with Product, L&D, and business units on adoption strategies and guidelines.

• Define extensibility patterns for Copilot plugins, integrations, and prompts.

• Mentor engineers and administrators.

• Provide architectural insights during design reviews and change approvals.

• Influence roadmap decisions with vendors and internal stakeholders.

• Translate technical decisions into tangible business outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in enterprise collaboration or workplace engineering.

• More than 5 years of in-depth, hands-on experience with Microsoft 365.

• Expert-level understanding of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online/OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams, including Teams Phone/voice capabilities.

• Strong expertise in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), identity and access management, PowerShell automation, Microsoft Graph API, and automation tools.

• Proven track record in supporting large, regulated enterprise environments.

• Experience with Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online/OneDrive, Power Automate/Power Apps, DLP, environment governance, Microsoft 365 Copilot, tenant-to-tenant consolidation, Purview, Defender for Office 365, Entra ID/Azure AD, Conditional Access, MFA, PIM, RBAC, PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, monitoring, incident/change management, and Intune/MDM/MAM concepts.

• Preferred: experience in enabling and governing M365 Copilot and Power Platform on a large scale.

• Preferred: familiarity with Microsoft Intune/Endpoint management and device compliance concepts.

• Preferred: background in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or similarly regulated sectors.

• Preferred: understanding of Zero Trust and modern workplace security patterns.

• Microsoft Certifications such as MS-102 or SC-300 are preferred but not mandatory.

• Preferred: experience in tenant-to-tenant consolidation or large-scale migrations.

• Exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail, analytical abilities, effective communication, problem-solving, relationship management, and teamwork capabilities.
