Principal Equipment Engineer, Adhesion & Assembly

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Design, integrate, and validate cutting-edge manufacturing equipment and automation solutions for Adhesion & Assembly processes.

• Take ownership of designated equipment development workstreams, encompassing design collaboration, integration, commissioning, and factory acceptance.

• Collaborate with equipment OEMs, system integrators, and automation suppliers to achieve project goals.

• Oversee daily technical interactions with vendors and critically assess design assumptions.

• Assist in the architecture of equipment, controls strategy, robotics integration, and the implementation of functional safety.

• Convert intricate manufacturing challenges into feasible equipment designs.

• Conduct technical assessments, design reviews, and troubleshooting for automated assembly, adhesive dispensing, bonding, and smart torque systems.

• Support the deployment of standardized equipment and process platforms across multiple locations.

• Work closely with manufacturing sites, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, EHS, and other departments to specify technical requirements.

• Engage in the commissioning, startup, debugging, and handover of new equipment.

• Create engineering documentation, specifications, test plans, and validation reports.

• Provide expert knowledge for enterprise automation and assembly initiatives.

• Identify design risks, integration challenges, and performance deficiencies; recommend and implement solutions.

• May mentor junior engineers and contribute to team capability enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience.

• Proven experience in developing, integrating, or deploying industrial manufacturing equipment.

• Strong background in industrial automation and robotics.

• Proficient understanding of industrial controls, PLC-based systems, and equipment integration.

• Knowledge of functional safety and machine safety principles.

• Experience working directly with equipment OEMs, system integrators, or automation suppliers.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Preferred: experience with automated assembly, adhesive application, bonding, or torque-related manufacturing equipment.

• Preferred: experience in commissioning, debugging, acceptance testing, and production ramp support.

• Preferred: experience in supporting equipment deployment across multiple sites.

• Preferred: familiarity with machine vision, precision assembly systems, or material dispensing technologies.
