This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance for several agile teams or projects to execute prioritized software product roadmaps.
• Design, develop, and sustain intricate software systems.
• Produce high-quality code for complex scenarios with adequate test coverage.
• Review and convert product requirements into robust designs for high-quality distributed application systems.
• Oversee design and code reviews for multiple applications to ensure adherence to best practices, Mercury standards, and quality expectations.
• Lead various sprint teams within the same product domain to deliver new or enhanced features.
• Resolve impediments to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions for product backlog items.
• Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to guarantee successful implementation of the intended functionality.
• Mentor and provide technical support to engineers across multiple teams within the same functional area.
• Work alongside product managers to estimate effort, prioritize tasks, plan, and deliver on prioritized roadmap items.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Over 7 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record in cutting-edge technologies and/or those utilized at Mercury.
• More than 3 years of hands-on experience leading multi-team engineering initiatives for feature development in a distributed application systems environment.
• Proficient in one or more industry-standard programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript).
• Skilled in utilizing various data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Experienced with relational databases, NoSQL, and caching solutions.
• Proficient in APIs using modern protocols such as REST and gRPC.
• Familiar with message queuing, data streaming, workflows, and integration frameworks (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, Amazon SQS, MS MQ, Apache Camel, etc.).
• Knowledgeable in microservices architecture.
• Experienced in containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficient in cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Familiar with leveraging DevSecOps practices to enhance engineering efficiency.
• Skilled in designing and implementing high-quality distributed application systems that are modular, configurable, maximize reuse, and are fast, effective, user-friendly, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable.
• Experienced in using analytics data and experimentation to design and enhance systems for speed, scalability, and effectiveness.
• Excellent problem-solving skills that lead to innovative solutions.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders across various functional areas to address impediments and achieve desired results.
• Demonstrated leadership skills through mentoring and providing technical guidance to multiple teams within a functional area.
• Experienced in promoting operational excellence and best practices with a focus on quality, performance, scalability, maintainability, and observability.
• Experienced in shaping technical strategy and vision for multiple teams.
• Preferred: 7 or more years of experience with Guidewire (PolicyCenter).
• Preferred: 5 or more years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Preferred: 3 or more years of experience with system design.
• Preferred: 2 or more years of experience with AWS or related cloud technologies.
• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
