Staff GCP Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical assistance for applications and services based on GCP, ensuring optimal performance and high availability.

• Streamline repetitive tasks and workflows utilizing Python, Bash, and Infrastructure as Code tools.

• Enforce cloud security best practices, which include IAM, data encryption, and network security measures.

• Oversee and manage virtual machines, containers, databases, and networking elements.

• Design, implement, and sustain CI/CD pipelines utilizing Google Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or comparable tools.

• Establish and administer monitoring and alerting systems through Google Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, or Grafana.

• Engage in incident response and conduct post-mortem evaluations.

• Utilize SRE practices involving SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.

• Work collaboratively with development, QA, and operations teams on application deployment and management.

• Produce and update system architecture, process, and procedure documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions.

• More than 3 years of experience with SRE principles and practices, including monitoring, incident management, and performance enhancement.

• At least 3 years of experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies, including Google Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.

• Over 3 years of experience with container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.

• More than 3 years of experience with scripting languages such as Python and Bash, along with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Google Deployment Manager.

• At least 3 years of experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Google Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.

• Strong analytical abilities and troubleshooting expertise.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.

• One year of professional work experience is required for each year of college degree not completed, in addition to the necessary years of experience.

• Capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
