This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Develop and manage the backend for a Web Analytics and AI platform.
• Conceptualize, implement, test, and maintain backend services while meeting latency, availability, and cost targets.
• Create typed, versioned API contracts and enhance them without disrupting client operations.
• Manage authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant access control.
• Deliver features from API to interface as necessary.
• Integrate the application with internal services, including AI-engineer-developed agent services, managing response streaming, timeouts, cancellation, and partial failures.
• Oversee the analytical-data read path, encompassing data modeling, query plans, pagination, batching, caching, and balancing consistency trade-offs.
• Establish and uphold performance budgets; profile services, minimize tail latency, and optimize cost per request.
• Conduct load and capacity testing prior to launches and leverage results for design choices.
• Equip services with metrics, structured logs, and distributed tracing.
• Define SLIs, SLOs, alerts, and dashboards; engage in on-call duties.
• Identify and resolve reliability issues; guide incident response and conduct blameless postmortems.
• Implement safe rollout practices, including feature flags, canary releases, and rapid rollback.
• Draft design documents, evaluate alternatives with data and prototypes, and communicate risks to the Staff Architect.
• Elevate the technical standards through code reviews, collaborative coding, and establishing protocols for testing, observability, and safe rollouts.
• Utilize Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex within the workflow and critically assess generated code against tests, types, and contracts.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Relevant experience in designing, building, and operating distributed backend services in production, adhering to coding standards, code reviews, builds, automated testing, deployment, and operations.
• Proven track record of delivering features end-to-end and maintaining ownership of them in production.
• Relevant experience in software design focused on reliability and scalability, for both new and existing systems.
• Strong proficiency in at least one high-performance programming language, such as Java/Kotlin, Go, Rust, C++, or C#, with a thorough understanding of its memory and concurrency models, as well as its runtime.
• Competence in working effectively with Python.
• Practical experience in production observability with metrics, tracing, logging, SLOs, and tools like OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Demonstrated performance experience with profiling, query optimization, caching strategies, and load testing.
• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, including timeouts, retries, idempotency, partial failure, streaming (SSE, WebSockets), and tail-latency considerations (p95, p99).
• Relevant experience in delivering full-stack solutions to production with TypeScript and a modern web framework.
• Daily familiarity with coding agent harnesses such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex, including critical evaluations of generated code.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage in detailed discussions about architecture and trade-offs.
• Proficient communication in English; Spanish language skills are a plus.
• Nice to have: experience with OLAP, columnar stores, semantic layers, or data platform integration.
• Nice to have: experience in integrating applications with LLM or agent services from a consumer perspective.
• Nice to have: experience with B2B, multi-country, or multi-tenant products.
