Staff Frontend Engineer – Grafana DataViz

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Oversee multi-quarter technical projects from the initial problem definition to final implementation.

• Collect user feedback and assess whether the delivered solutions met their objectives.

• Mentor and work alongside engineers through code reviews, design evaluations, and collaborative coding sessions.

• Engage in on-call duties for supported services.

• Participate in incident response efforts and facilitate post-incident analysis.

• Offer technical assistance during customer escalations.

• Identify areas where users experience significant friction.

• Represent the team's achievements across different squads.

• Prepare design proposals and conduct demonstrations.

• Advocate for the project roadmap in discussions across teams.

• Develop and enhance Grafana visualizations for improved data comprehension and insight generation.

• Extensive experience in leading teams through projects, mentoring engineers, and acting as a force multiplier.

• Excellent communication skills in a fully remote, asynchronous work environment.

• Experience with on-call responsibilities, providing support for production software, ensuring system reliability, and managing incident responses.

• Proven experience in building production-level software systems.

• Capability to solve complex engineering challenges with minimal oversight.

• User-centered, pragmatic approach utilizing short feedback loops.

• Familiarity with AI technologies and associated frameworks.

• Willingness to contribute to the Grafana Community.

• Bonus: Experience in open-source contribution or maintainership.

• Bonus: Active interest in observability aspects, including Metrics, Logs, and Traces.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or Tempo.

• Primary technical stack includes TypeScript, React, uPlot, and eCharts.
