Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with a functional department on a specific engagement to explore workflows and identify pain points.

• Define, design, and develop full-stack custom applications utilizing modern frameworks, AI coding assistants, and internal platform APIs.

• Transition applications swiftly from prototype to production stage.

• Take ownership of architecture, development, testing, deployment, training, and end-to-end handoff.

• Engage directly with AI coding tools and iterate with stakeholders in near real-time.

• Clearly articulate and communicate the trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality.

• Collaborate with IT, Security, and Data teams to ensure adherence to data security, compliance, and supportability standards.

• Transform recurring patterns, components, and playbooks into reusable engineering building blocks.

• Relay field insights back to platform, product, and data teams.

• Evaluate and report success based on production adoption and measurable business outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Capability to independently design, build, and deploy full-stack applications, encompassing both frontend and backend development.

• Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (Python, Node.js/JavaScript, or similar).

• Adequate frontend skills to create functional internal tools.

• Practical experience utilizing AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc.).

• Fundamental understanding of APIs, webhooks, data structures, and integration patterns.

• Experience working closely with non-technical stakeholders, defining ambiguous requests, managing expectations, and delivering production solutions.

• Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and adapt to changing priorities.

• Strong communication skills for articulating technical trade-offs.

• Previous experience in forward-deployed roles, solutions engineering, professional services, or as a startup generalist is preferred.

• Familiarity with enterprise security, compliance, or data governance standards is preferred.
