Staff Engineer – Trust & Vault

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +6 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the architecture for Trust & Vault, covering vaulting, authentication, optimization, account updater, and portfolio migration.

• Establish the technical roadmap utilizing versioned APIs and an event-driven design approach.

• Design systems that tokenize, store, and retrieve raw card data while adhering to PCI compliance.

• Develop and enhance authentication capabilities for 3DS/SCA and network tokenization.

• Create payment optimization features to enhance authorization and acceptance rates.

• Construct headless systems that are PCI-compliant and resilient to bank-grade standards.

• Promote the "You Build It, You Run It" culture within the team.

• Design systems with multi-tenancy, elastic scaling, and automated observability in mind.

• Manage microservices deployed in production environments.

• Guide engineers and collaborate with Product, the CTO Office, and Staff Engineers across various domains.

• Successfully deliver complex projects that span multiple teams.

• Lead the architecture for at least one core Trust & Vault capability within the initial 6 to 12 months.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience.

• Significant background in software engineering.

• Profound knowledge of Go and/or Kotlin, with a strong command of the full technology stack.

• Documented success in architecting robust, scalable, and maintainable distributed systems.

• Familiarity with event-driven platforms, APIs (gRPC/REST), and cloud-native or serverless architectures.

• Experience in developing foundational platform capabilities or complex distributed systems.

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native services, including RDS, ECS, EKS, S3, and similar technologies.

• Proficient in unit, integration, and end-to-end automated testing methodologies.

• Experience working within Agile, DevSecOps, and CI/CD environments.

• Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring abilities, technical vision, and project delivery across complex cross-team initiatives.

• Advanced proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

• Preferred: Experience with PCI DSS card vaulting, tokenization, network tokenization, 3DS/SCA, account updater, payment optimization, payments or fintech, performance optimization, efficient algorithms, static analysis, code-quality tooling, and mature CI/CD pipelines.

• Nice to have: Experience in implementing new engineering practices across teams, contributions to open-source projects, technical writing, and proficiency in Spanish.
