Senior Software Engineer – Frontend, Backend, Full-Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with customers to clarify issues and create robust technical options.

• Present value, effort, feasibility, and risks before initiating development.

• Create production-ready solutions utilizing AI agents.

• Review pertinent changes and take accountability for code generated by agents.

• Engage with both legacy systems and new AI applications.

• Maintain stable operations, ensure measurable impact, and promote continuous improvement post-launch.

• Oversee technical solutions from understanding the problem to production operation.

• Guarantee code quality and approval, irrespective of the creator.

• Develop maintainable, tested, and traceable systems.

• Make technical decisions adhering to engineering standards.

• Assume responsibility for security, stability, and troubleshooting in production.

• Lead the architecture of a system or domain (Senior).

• Drive solution design through direct customer engagement (Senior).

• Make technical trade-offs among value, effort, and feasibility (Senior).

• Share expertise and create reusable solutions for the team (Senior).

• Provide insights on standards, technical effort, feasibility, project priorities, operations, and impact.

• Collaborate with a team of approximately 25 developers to build and operate shops, self-service journeys, content management systems, and AI applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Multiple years of professional development experience in frontend, backend, or full-stack engineering.

• As a Senior Engineer: take ownership of systems, domains, and architectural decisions through to production operations.

• Integrate AI agents into the engineering workflow, including context, tools, review loops, and accountability for production code.

• Exceptional expertise in at least one area: frontend, backend, or full-stack.

• Capacity to work beyond your specific technical discipline.

• Ability to evaluate the effort, value, feasibility, and risks of technical options and provide informed recommendations.

• As a Senior Engineer: design solutions in direct collaboration with customers.

• Share knowledge within the team and during review processes.

• As a Senior Engineer: empower other engineers technically and develop reusable solutions.

• Frontend: possess a strong sense of good UX.

• Backend: create interfaces that users enjoy interacting with.

• Proficient in German for customer-facing interactions.

• Confident English language skills.

• Frontend expertise in TypeScript, React/Next.js or Vue/Nuxt, modern CSS, design systems, WCAG, performance, and REST/GraphQL.

• Backend expertise in TypeScript with Node.js/NestJS or Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, and REST/GraphQL.

• Experience with Elixir/Phoenix is a plus.

• Willingness and capability to advance knowledge in agentic development outside of your discipline.

• Interest and ability to measure impact, define target metrics, and implement observability.

• Skills in developing AI applications with LLM integration, RAG, evaluation, and guardrails are areas for further development.

• Ability to manage the cost and quality of AI systems is a skill to be further developed.

• Build under strict requirements for data privacy, security, and accessibility.

• Interest in the fields of commerce, self-service, content production, digital assistants, and knowledge and learning systems.
