Staff Engineer, SDET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the Platform and Hybrid Scale Integration Playground.

• Provision infrastructure, create testing tools, and oversee the lifecycle of environments.

• Construct and scale hybrid test infrastructure that supports extensive simulations with thousands of simulated gateways.

• Develop benchmark testing suites for operations susceptible to scale-related challenges and identify regressions early in the release process.

• Design and manage Terraform-based infrastructure for scale and platform playground environments.

• Spot gaps in test coverage and enhance tooling and testing strategies.

• Collaborate with Networking, Platform, Security, and ERT teams to convert domain requirements into infrastructure and testing designs.

• Mentor engineers and set standards for test design, infrastructure quality, and best practices.

• Lead the design and planning of tests for platform and hybrid scale features, manage schedules, and ensure successful execution.

• Engage in code reviews, participate in on-call rotations, and take part in the interview process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software development or test engineering, with a strong focus on infrastructure, scale testing, or platform engineering.

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Golang.

• Comprehensive understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, including networking, gateway architectures, VPCs, and CSP account structures (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI).

• Practical experience in designing and managing test environments at scale using cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code.

• Proficient in using Terraform for constructing and maintaining regression and scale test infrastructure.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Ability to work autonomously and lead projects from design to delivery with minimal oversight.

• Proficient with AI-powered tools such as GitHub Copilot and LLM-based assistants.

• Experience in building large-scale simulation or emulation environments is preferred.

• Knowledge of benchmark testing methodologies is preferred.

• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog is preferred.

• Prior experience with hybrid or multi-cloud infrastructure environments is preferred.

• Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadership on infrastructure projects is preferred.
