This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the target architecture and modernization strategy for a two-decade-old .NET revenue and debt-recovery application.
• Establish specifications, sequencing, architectural choices, and acceptance criteria for the incremental replacement of the application.
• Oversee the external partner’s agentic build process, which includes delivery order, acceptance, merge gates, and resolving divergences.
• Conduct thorough reviews of generated code to ensure accuracy and maintainability.
• Manage specification drift, maintain blueprint coherence, and address regeneration risks and testing limitations.
• Differentiate between defects and accepted legacy behaviors, ensuring discrepancies are identified early.
• Manage the partner relationship by overseeing cadence, escalation, scope, estimates, quality, and evidence standards.
• Ensure Neumo is capable of building, deploying, operating, modifying, and extending the delivered system independently from the partner.
• Continuously enhance internal engineering capabilities throughout the delivery process.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture, data models, decisions, divergences, and operational runbooks.
• Convert build status, risks, assumptions, and decisions into actionable communications for executives.
• Represent Neumo’s technical stance with partners, customers, and procurement.
• 12+ years of experience in building and operating production software, with substantial time spent at the staff or principal level.
• In-depth expertise in agentic or AI-assisted software delivery at a production scale; experience in shipping systems this way is essential.
• Proven track record of owning the architecture for large, multi-team systems.
• Experience in directing external delivery partners, consultancies, or systems integrators.
• History of incremental legacy modernization, including the use of strangler patterns, coexistence strategies, live data migration, and cutovers with zero tolerance for loss.
• Extensive experience with relational databases.
• Proficiency in both .NET and modern web stack technologies.
• Outstanding written communication skills.
• Ability to discern acceptable divergences from issues that necessitate halting delivery, especially in financial calculations.
• Comfort operating with authority over an external team while lacking authority over internal colleagues.
• Demonstrated effectiveness within a remote, distributed organization.
• Experience in government technology, regtech, fintech, payments, or other regulated domains is preferred.
• Familiarity with financial calculations, payment allocations, interest accrual, or reconciliation systems is preferred.
• Experience in accessibility engineering to WCAG 2.1 AA standards is preferred.
• Knowledge of StateRAMP/GovRAMP, FedRAMP, SOC 2, PCI DSS, or IRS Publication 1075 is preferred.
• Experience in taking over and managing a system developed by others is preferred.
• Competitive benefits and compensation package.
• Fully remote work arrangement.
