Senior Full Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and implementation of intricate systems and features.

• Establish the technical direction for the team.

• Choose and rationalize tools, programming languages, and frameworks for each project.

• Create systems with well-defined boundaries, consistent patterns, and thorough documentation.

• Lead the design of schemas and data models, selecting appropriate database technologies.

• Document the architecture for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Direct service-oriented backend design using C# and .NET, covering API versioning, distributed systems patterns, and secure-by-design architecture.

• Architect complex front-end solutions in Angular or React while adhering to accessibility and performance standards.

• Utilize AI tools for designing, writing, testing, and reviewing code.

• Evaluate AI-generated code for maintainability, security, architectural compatibility, and domain accuracy.

• Spearhead the migration of legacy applications to modern technologies and infrastructures.

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines incorporating quality gates, contract testing, and rollout strategies such as feature flags and blue-green deployment.

• Establish effective, speedy, and meaningful automated testing strategies.

• Create secure, scalable, compliant, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure.

• Define Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs), utilizing distributed tracing and telemetry to diagnose system-wide issues.

• Facilitate technical discussions with clients and stakeholders, clearly explaining trade-offs.

• Collaborate with analysts, product owners, and project managers to refine project scope and delivery phases.

• Decompose complex issues into well-defined tasks with clear outcomes, dependencies, and decision contexts.

• Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and constructive feedback.

• Guide others in the safe and effective use of AI tools.

• Assist in defining and upholding team standards for AI utilization.

• Contribute reusable prompts, workflows, and patterns to the Skills Library.

• Report to a Technical People Lead and collaborate with distributed teams across London, New Zealand, India, and the US.

• Engage in multiple client projects as priorities shift.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of seven years of experience as a software engineer.

• Extensive commercial expertise in C# and .NET.

• Proven experience with Angular or React in production environments.

• Experience in designing, launching, and supporting at least one system in production, which can be discussed in detail during the interview.

• Background in client-facing delivery, where priorities are set by the client and trade-offs must be communicated.

• Practical experience with at least one major cloud platform, as well as with Linux, containers, and infrastructure as code.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable working within an Agile delivery team.

• Self-discipline to manage your time effectively and maintain close contact with a geographically dispersed team.

• Daily experience with an AI coding tool such as Claude Code, including examples of its benefits and limitations.

• Willingness to operate within an agentic delivery model, where parts of the development workflow are automated.

• Experience in financial services is highly desirable, with a preference for Commercial Real Estate or Credit Markets experience.

• Confidence to deliver difficult messages to clients early in the process.

• Ability to meet Senior Developer expectations across software development, delivery lifecycle, code quality and testing, databases, DevOps and deployment, initiative and accountability, communication and collaboration, leadership and mentorship, frontend and backend engineering, integration and quality, and systems thinking.
