Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the lead architect and implementation head for modifications to the Digital Credit Application platform.

• Oversee the transition of essential credit application functionalities from a legacy monolithic system to scalable, cloud-native Java/Spring Boot microservices.

• Develop and execute migration strategies for high-volume traffic, ensuring zero disruption for existing customers.

• Facilitate bidirectional data and state synchronization with Salesforce integrations.

• Design and execute a modular adjudication layer to accommodate adjustable credit rules and third-party data providers.

• Create and sustain versioned REST/gRPC APIs for Mobile, Web, and prospective AI Chat interfaces.

• Construct backend infrastructure to enable dynamic routing and real-time A/B testing of application processes.

• Leverage AI tools throughout the development lifecycle to enhance coding, refactoring, testing, and documentation.

• Collaborate with Data Science teams on data pipelines and backend schemas for LLM integration and instantaneous credit decision-making.

• Set standards for CI/CD, OpenTelemetry observability, and automated contract testing.

• Guide mid-level and senior engineers while fostering high engineering standards, clean code practices, and AI-assisted productivity.

• Maintain a live production environment while transitioning mission-critical services to a microservices architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of engineering experience, particularly in backend architecture within Fintech, Lending, or Credit systems.

• Advanced proficiency in Java 17/21, Spring Boot 3.x, and Spring Cloud.

• Extensive experience in extracting tightly coupled business logic from legacy systems into scalable cloud microservices on AWS.

• Experience in building or implementing rules engines, such as Drools, Camunda, or custom JSON-logic.

• Profound knowledge of Kafka or RabbitMQ.

• Strict compliance with API contracts utilizing OpenAPI/Swagger.

• Practical experience with AI coding assistants like Cursor or Copilot.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve intricate, cross-functional issues.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; capable of clearly presenting complex technical concepts to stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

• Proficiency in Salesforce is a significant advantage.
