Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and lead the technical architecture along with the long-term vision for the company's data platform.

• Oversee the design of large-scale, highly reliable data pipelines and systems that cross multiple teams.

• Establish engineering standards for data modeling, testing, observability, and pipeline design throughout the organization.

• Mentor and offer technical guidance to senior and mid-level data engineers.

• Assess and integrate new tools, frameworks, and platforms to enhance scalability, reliability, and developer efficiency.

• Collaborate with engineering, product, and analytics leadership to ensure data infrastructure investments align with business objectives.

• Conduct root-cause analysis for intricate, cross-system data incidents and implement systemic solutions.

• Represent the data engineering department in cross-organizational architecture and planning discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience in data engineering, including substantial involvement in designing large-scale data systems.

• Proven experience in leading the architecture of complex data platforms from start to finish.

• Extensive knowledge of SQL and proficiency in at least one programming language applicable to data engineering (e.g., Python, Scala, or Java).

• A solid record of establishing technical direction and influencing engineering standards across teams.

• Significant experience with cloud data platforms, data warehousing, and large-scale pipeline orchestration.

• Excellent communication skills, with a background in presenting technical strategies to both engineering and business stakeholders.

• Experience in mentoring and developing other engineers.

• Background in building data platforms that cater to both analytics and machine learning applications.

• Proven experience leading major platform migrations or re-architecture initiatives.

• Familiarity with streaming architectures and large-scale real-time data processing.

• Understanding of data governance, lineage, and compliance standards.

• Previous experience in a Staff, Principal, or equivalent individual-contributor leadership position.
