Director, Full-Stack Engineer, Shopping Tech

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee, manage, and expand several teams of product-oriented software engineers.

• Provide mentorship and guidance for the professional and technical growth of engineers.

• Collaborate with product managers to comprehend the desired functionalities of applications and related testing scenarios.

• Persistently enhance software engineering methodologies.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain technical solutions utilizing a full range of development tools and technologies.

• Lead the development of high-quality, available, resilient, and scalable solutions.

• Stay updated on technology trends, experiment with and acquire new technologies, engage in both internal and external technology communities, and mentor fellow engineering community members.

• Foster innovation, the adoption of cutting-edge technology, inclusivity, creative thinking, teamwork, self-management, and diversity.

• Enhance the productivity of the team and other teams.

• Guide the deployment of both new and existing applications within AWS environments.

• Decompose monolithic applications into microservice architectures and develop new microservices.

• Create customer-facing web applications and services for prominent features and products.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a closely related quantitative discipline (such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering).

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in people management.

• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, including enterprise architecture and design patterns, cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud), and data architecture.

• Preferred: A Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

• Preferred: Over 10 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, including enterprise architecture and design patterns, web technologies, distributed HPC and ML systems, cloud computing, and data architecture.

• More than 10 years of professional coding experience in commonly used languages such as Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, and Scala.

• At least 8 years of experience with databases and database management systems.

• Over 10 years of professional experience throughout the complete system development lifecycle.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• More than 10 years of experience with networking protocols and integration with third-party distributed systems.

• At least 5 years of experience mentoring senior engineers and promoting professional development within technical teams.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards.

• Expertise in the strategic use of agentic AI coding tools.
