Staff Engineer, AI Native

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, architect, and develop RESTful API endpoints.

• Collaborate with front-end developers to create responsive web applications.

• Establish data models and database schemas.

• Oversee relational or NoSQL databases with a focus on integrity and performance.

• Lead and manage AI coding agents throughout the delivery lifecycle.

• Create and maintain agent workflows utilizing Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and the AI-native development framework.

• Set up prompt engineering patterns, structured output schemas, rules, and guardrails.

• Trace, debug, and address issues with agent tool calls, prompt failures, and unexpected outputs.

• Document application architecture, design, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.

• Estimate tasks and delivery timelines for sprint planning.

• Participate in the on-call rotation and address production issues as needed.

• Mentor junior engineers and advocate for AI-native methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience with medium to large complex code bases.

• Proficient in full-stack development.

• Familiarity with Java, Go, or Python.

• Experience in the design and implementation of REST APIs.

• Highly skilled in the HTML, CSS, JavaScript ecosystem, and TypeScript.

• Knowledge of React, Angular, Ember, Jest, and Babel.

• Understanding of UI/UX design principles.

• Proficient with Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot as primary delivery tools.

• Working knowledge of prompt engineering, context management, and structured output patterns.

• Familiarity with agent development, tool utilization, function calling, approvals, and workflow chaining.

• Awareness of secure AI coding practices, including prompt injection, sandbox fundamentals, and access control.

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, or at least three years of proven experience in lieu of a degree.

• Knowledge in database management, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins.

• Understanding of AI-native development frameworks such as the BMad Method.

• Knowledge of MCP, A2A concepts, tool-connection methods, and agent skill configuration.

• Understanding of evaluation basics, test cases, LLM-as-judge concepts, and acceptance criteria for AI-generated outputs.

• Experience in tracing and debugging prompt chains, tool calls, and agent failures.

• Knowledge of strategies for reducing hallucination, prompt caching, and model fallback.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies like SAFe and Scrum.
