Staff Bioinformatics Scientist – Oncology/MRD Algorithm Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead the development of algorithms aimed at detecting minimal residual disease in ctDNA samples using signals from small variant calling, copy number calling, fragmentomics, and methylation analysis.

• Support the enhancement of algorithms for therapy selection across various types of variants and biomarkers.

• Create and prototype innovative NGS algorithms for clinical oncology applications, including MRD.

• Evaluate and refine existing secondary analysis algorithms for the detection of variants and biomarkers.

• Design and conduct experiments in collaboration with both external and internal experimental teams to bolster current or new Illumina oncology assays.

• Offer technical expertise to both internal and external partners.

• Engage in cross-functional assay and algorithm R&D teams with minimal supervision.

• Articulate plans and outcomes across different functions.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, mathematics, or a related discipline with over 3 years of industry experience.

• Proficiency in at least two areas among statistics, common bioinformatics methodologies, NGS analysis, and oncology.

• Demonstrated success in developing bioinformatics NGS algorithms that extend beyond utilizing existing tools.

• Proficient in programming languages such as Python.

• Experience with C++ is preferred.

• Strong communication skills to effectively contribute to cross-functional project teams and engage with stakeholders.

• Availability to accommodate meeting schedules that overlap with Pacific time zone hours.
