Staff Backend Software Engineer – Loki

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Shape the roadmap and personal career aspirations.

• Work collaboratively with the team to introduce new features and refine them based on outcomes.

• Lead projects from the initial concept through to customer operations.

• Engage in open-source contributions beyond the team's immediate focus.

• Design, construct, operate, and maintain essential systems.

• Take responsibility for system reliability, performance, and availability.

• Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations and manage operated services.

• Support team members and take part in design discussions.

• Acquire knowledge of the cloud product and a large distributed-system codebase.

• Write and review pull requests and design documentation.

• Oversee automated release rollouts.

• Enhance the efficiency and resilience of metrics processing, storage, and querying.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must reside in the US or Canada.

• Strong experience with at least one programming language; familiarity with Go, Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar is preferred.

• Proven track record of delivering projects from requirements gathering through to product launch.

• Experience in developing software that operates in the Cloud or a background in systems engineering.

• Familiarity with on-call duties and adherence to the DevOps model.

• Experience in writing clean, robust, efficient, and maintainable code.

• Knowledge of observability systems, including metrics, logs, and traces.

• Experience with Kubernetes is highly valued.

• Proficiency with queue systems, such as the Kafka protocol.

• Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational contexts.

• Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, or a willingness to learn.

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code practices.
