Staff Backend Engineer, Data Ingestion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance the monitoring and observability platform for hundreds of thousands of desktop and browser extension installations globally.

• Establish and refine metrics that assess recorder reliability, data capture health, and the availability of Agentic Workflow Mapping.

• Take ownership of and advance backend ingestion services that link data capture to processing and AI pipelines.

• Enhance the reliability of background jobs and orchestrate tasks effectively.

• Design, implement, and manage production services within AWS.

• Utilize observability to detect failures, resolve bottlenecks, and direct enhancements.

• Set the technical vision and lead the feature, reliability, and observability roadmap for the Workflow Mapping client platform.

• Lead collaborative technical efforts across teams, clarify ownership responsibilities, unblock engineers, and establish standards for scalable architecture and maintainable code.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in developing backend applications with a proven history of managing complex production systems at a Staff-level scope.

• Proficient in Python and comfortable working with TypeScript and Go as necessary.

• Experience in designing and managing distributed systems and large-scale data ingestion pipelines.

• Proven background in building monitoring and observability systems.

• Familiarity with message queues, background jobs, and task orchestration tools such as Celery, SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.

• Experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining production services in AWS.

• Capability to transform ambiguous challenges into technical roadmaps and manage work from design through to production operation.

• Hands-on engineering experience along with technical leadership skills.

• Experience in monitoring the health and reliability of a large array of desktop applications, browser extensions, or other distributed clients (preferred).

• Experience with Django (preferred).

• Background in a startup or similar fast-paced, high-growth environment (preferred).
