Staff Backend Engineer – AI Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and launch scalable AI/GenAI applications utilizing LLMs, RAG architectures, and agentic frameworks.

• Create and enhance AI prompts, evaluation frameworks, and model pipelines.

• Architect and execute end-to-end solutions, which include Angular/React frontend applications and backend APIs/services.

• Integrate AI functionalities into enterprise systems by employing cloud-native and microservices architectures.

• Lead technical design discussions and drive decisions regarding scalable, secure, and high-performance architecture.

• Collaborate with product, business, and engineering teams.

• Develop reusable frameworks and tools for LLM evaluation, monitoring, and observability.

• Adhere to software engineering best practices, encompassing CI/CD, testing, code reviews, and security.

• Mentor and support engineers.

• Keep abreast of the latest trends in AI/ML, the LLM ecosystem, and modern web technologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering, delivering scalable, production-grade applications.

• More than 5 years of backend development experience.

• API development experience using Java, Python, or Node.js.

• Proven experience in designing and developing microservices and RESTful APIs.

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, RKE).

• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

• Solid understanding of frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, or similar.

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Generative AI / LLM-based systems.

• Familiarity with prompt engineering and LLM interactions.

• Experience with RAG architectures.

• Knowledge of LLM evaluation techniques and frameworks.

• Experience in building AI-enabled applications using modern frameworks and tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• High School diploma combined with 4 years of relevant experience as an alternative educational pathway.
