Staff Architect – Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create mechanisms that preserve privacy, along with derived signals and shared semantics for international data products.

• Establish cross-border entity resolution as a core capability.

• Work alongside data science teams to develop matching strategies and enhance match quality.

• Construct semantic and ontology layers that enable AI agents to effectively consume data across different regions.

• Execute governed discovery and compliant access routes.

• Steer technology adoption through reference implementations and reusable engineering patterns.

• Lead prototyping and research & development initiatives with both product and engineering teams.

• Mentor engineers in foundational thinking, system design, and product awareness.

• Report directly to the Sr. Director of Platform Engineering as an individual contributor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on data platforms, analytics infrastructure, and AI/ML systems.

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in science, technology, engineering, or a related discipline.

• Strong first-principles reasoning regarding platform trade-offs and the ability to articulate system behavior at a mechanistic level.

• Extensive hands-on experience throughout the entire data lifecycle, from ingestion to transformation and BI/ML consumption.

• Proficiency in data modeling, schema design, data quality, lineage, catalog metadata, and governance at scale.

• Experience in designing architectures that allow for unified, governed access to data across various systems.

• Proven track record in overseeing and evolving shared platform architectures.

• Familiarity with distributed computing and cloud-native infrastructure, preferably Amazon Web Services.

• Comfort with infrastructure as code and managing production workloads.

• Practical experience with graph databases, entity resolution, or record linkage systems.
