This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Assist in managing the hospital's financial operations by handling general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, account reconciliations, and data analytics.
• Create and document journal entries.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of accounts and balance sheets.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Reconcile bank accounts and cash transactions.
• Aid in fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules, prepaid expenses, and accrual schedules.
• Prepare necessary filings for sales tax, payroll tax, and other obligations.
• Facilitate external financial audits and assist in cost report preparation.
• Contribute to budget preparation, forecasting, financial models, cash flow forecasting, and financial projections.
• Analyze financial performance, trends, variances, departmental expenses, patient volumes, payer mix, reimbursement, and revenue cycle performance.
• Design dashboards, reports, KPIs, and standardized reporting processes using Power BI, Excel, SQL, or other reporting tools.
• Evaluate operational, financial, and clinical data to spot improvement opportunities.
• Track productivity metrics and evaluate performance against benchmarks.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity across accounting, payroll, EHR, and revenue cycle systems.
• Automate the generation of recurring reports.
• Maintain financial databases and reporting systems.
• Collaborate with Finance, Revenue Cycle, Human Resources, department leaders, auditors, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee internal controls and suggest enhancements.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP standards.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field is required.
• CPA or CPA candidate status is preferred.
• Prior experience in healthcare accounting is preferred.
• Experience in a Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with business intelligence reporting is preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement mechanisms and hospital finance.
• Experience with Medicare cost reporting is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, and advanced formulas.
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI, SQL, and data visualization tools is beneficial.
• Understanding of accounting software and ERP systems.
• Capability to analyze extensive data sets and deliver actionable insights.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while adhering to deadlines.
• Capacity to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
• Proficient in typing, data entry, and operating office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone, and through video conferencing.
• Occasionally lift and carry office materials weighing up to 15–20 pounds.
• Maintain focus and attention to detail for prolonged periods.
• Visual ability to read printed materials and computer screens, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Standard business hours, with the possibility of additional hours during month-end close, year-end close, audits, budgeting, or other peak reporting times.
• Primarily conducted in a professional office or remote office setting.
